Posted in Skin Facts by Lucy

Chemical Compounds

Our skin comes into contact with many different chemicals every day; a lot of which are absorbed through our skin. Think about what you use! Dermalogica’s Super Sensitive Faceblock contains no chemical sunscreens.

Skinfact 5/100: Cold Weather Dry Skin

Posted in Skin Facts by Lucy

When the cold weather draws in, many of us notice our skin dries out. There are two main reasons for this:

  1. Cold air is usually a lot drier than warm air and, together with windier weather that whips any moisture away, exposed areas of skin are likely to dry out quickly.
  2. At the other end of the scale, cold weather means more central heating: sudden changes in temperature make it hard for the skin to balance and this ‘warm weather’ will encourage further moisture evaporation!

Protect your skin from the elements with Dermalogica’s Active Moist.

Skinfact 4/100: Smoking Ages Skin

Posted in Beauty News by Lucy

After sun damage, smoking is the number one cause of premature skin aging; smoke creates ‘free radicals’ in your cells and damages your skin. These free radicals have a lot to answer for: restricting blood flow, breaking down collagen, reducing levels of Vitamin A and C…

Smoking

Don’t take your youthful skin for granted. Start caring for it now with Dermalogica’s Age Smart range.

Did you know skin is the largest organ in our body? It can weigh up to 3.5 kgs and cover 2 square metres! It is part of the ‘integumentary organ system’, which includes other protective appendages such as hair and nails. The second largest organ in the body is the liver.

Skinfact 2/100: Thin Skin

Posted in Beauty News by Lucy

The thinnest (and most delicate) skin on your body is around your eyes. That’s why it needs extra special care. The thickest skin on your body is on the palms and soles of your hands and feet (but just because it’s thick doesn’t mean it doesn’t need special care too!). The very thickest skin is on your heel.

Look after your skin, whatever it’s thickness, with Dermalogica’s Body Therapy.
